Emmett Moore: Since You Broke My Heart

December 2nd, 2013 - January 1st, 2014

Gallery Diet is delighted to announce a newly commissioned work by Miami based artist and designer, Emmett Moore. Since You Broke My Heart is a steel sculpture that will appear on the gallery’s northern facade, created as an homage to Miami’s neon signage history, this is Gallery Diet’s first outdoor project. The single sculptural component will protrude about 1’ off the wall. This is Emmett Moore’s first outdoor sculptural installation.

Moore works at the intersection of form and function, having graduated from DASH, Moore went on to receive a BFA from Rhode Island School of Design. Most recently he completed the exhibition design for New Work Miami as the final show at The Miami Art Museum. Moore has positioned himself uniquely between being a process based designer with contemporaries like Rafael de Cardenas, Aranda/Lasch and Max Lamb, and contemporary sculptors who have played with function such as Richard Artschwager, Frank Stella and Donald Judd. Simultaneously, Wynwood, where Diet is located, has grown to be Internationally recognized as a site for cutting edge murals and outdoor art projects. Up until now, Diet has left its exterior walls white, a sharp contrast the prevalence of area murals.
